THANKSGIVING BLESSING is a community-wide program that gives the neediest families in our neighborhood the dignity of celebrating Thanksgiving with a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings. Last year, 8400 families were served across Anchorage.
On Monday, November 20 from 2pm to 6pm the food will be distributed
at six local centers across town. Our local distribution site is Crosspoint Church, in the Fred Meyer / Burlington shopping center on Dimond Blvd. Last year, over 1400 families were served at this site alone!
JLP has been asked to help out two ways: cranberry sauce and volunteers.
We were asked to provide 250 cans of cranberry sauce. If you’d like to contribute, please bring cans of cranberry relish to worship this Sunday, November 19, so we can get them to the church on time.
JLP was also invited to provide volunteers. If you know you’d like to volunteer, please sign up on the list in the Education Center. If you’re not sure, ask any of the JLP people who have volunteered in previous years!
The Alaska Food Bank coordinates the Thanksgiving Blessing, which has more information on their website.
